Philippe has been documenting the design process and is responsible for much of the project’s website, communication design and industrial design consulting.
His diverse background includes experience in culinary arts, outdoor leadership, and graphic design and industrial design. He has also travelled extensively through over eighty countries, including many developing countries. His travel experiences have strongly influenced his vision of design, emphasizing the need for sustainability, user-centered approaches, and ethnographic research.
He is also excited about the humanitarian potential of incorporating design into capacity and resource building in developing countries.
Philippe believes that the interpersonal, educational, communication and social aspects of design are equally important to the technical side of this exciting field: he is a dynamic networker, promoter, educator, and event organizer in the design industry.

Niki Dun
Project Manager & Design Mentor
Co-Founder and current Executive Director of the Design For Development Society, Niki’s work in international development began with the bicycle ambulance designed during her degree work in Industrial Design at the Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver, Canada.

Niki co-founded the organisation following the realization that the comprehensive approach of the design problem-solving process was an untapped and valuable tool that could be used by underserved communities to address basic needs issues that they face. She hopes that Canadian and international designers will see the Design For Development Society as an example of how the design community can contribute to the global community.
